Activities To Do This Memorial Day Weekend

Written By: Katie Madio

Who else feels like Memorial Day weekend sneaked up on them, given the times we are currently facing? Our normal plans may be a little dampened but there is still plenty of fun to be had and memories to be made. We put together a list of fun activities you can still do even while practicing social distancing.

1. While we are expected to get rain/storms tomorrow, Sunday and Monday look like perfect weather! Whether you plan on grilling indoors or outdoors you can still cook up your traditional Memorial Day feast! If your plans get rained on, don't fret...layout your picnic blanket in your living room, open up the windows slightly to get some fresh air and hear the peaceful sounds of rain. If you end up being able to cookout outside, it's recommended if you have people over to have them "bring their own food" and practice social distancing.

2. Go for a hike or bike ride! There are plenty of nearby hiking trails that you can enjoy!

3.) If you're use to running a 5k on Memorial Day, you still can VIRTUALLY! We might not be able to be together in person but this is a wonderful way to feel apart of the community and provide a sense of belonging that we are in this TOGETHER! You can join Wear Blue: Run with Purpose.

4.) Do a Hulu, Amazon or Netflix binge watch! I highly recommend watching Band of BrothersMy husband portrayed Frank Perconte in the series and in my opinion is one of the best series of all time! The series is so inspiring and eye opening as to what the men of Easy Company had to endure during WW2.

5.) You can enjoy a "live" performance virtually! The New York Times has a great list of concerts live-streaming this weekend.

6.) The National D-Day Memorial on-line commemoration with stream this Monday. Memorial Day is a time to honor our fallen soldiers, participating in a commemoration is a wonderful to show your gratitude.

From our families to yours, we wish you all a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!
